Turnip with Cheese Sauce
Serves 6
Cooked turnip is baked with a cheese sauce and bread crumbs

Cook time: 20 minutes

1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
2 bags - 12 oz. Cut & Peeled Sawler Turnips
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs tossed with 1 tablespoon butter


Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; stir in flour. Continue to cook and stir until smooth; gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add cheese and stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Place turnip in a shallow, lightly buttered baking dish; pour sauce over turnip. Sprinkle with buttered bread crumbs.

Bake at 400º F for 15 to 20 minutes.
